I am a sophomore at BYU, studying editing and publishing. I love reading Russian literature, rock climbing, and getting to know people. People can sometimes be hard to figure out, but each person’s unique unpredictability makes getting to know them so much more fun.

Painting helps me look outside myself and combine other people’s perspectives to create my own. Through it, I am able to connect what people can’t say to how they feel instead. I paint to better understand the world, myself, and others so I can have a greater appreciation for those around me. I love finding patterns of how people interact with each other. Painting helps me visualize these patterns and recognize how different people live trying to fulfill their purposes in contrasting, but beautiful ways.

Even though other people’s perspectives are foreign to me, understanding their views and combining them to my own helps me focus my paintings on bringing joy to others.
